This painting is dedicated to the story of the first love of the Russian Tsar Peter, the first to go down in history with the title "Great". But even the greatest love suffers like the simplest. Peter fell in love with a simple girl, the daughter of a German living in Russia. Her name was Anna Mons. This romance lasted more than 10 years. Peter was ready to lay the entire kingdom at the feet of his beloved, but Anna only accepted generous gifts. When historians examined Anna's letters, they did not find a word about love in them. Therefore, I placed Anna's portrait on an old blank sheet of paper. An expensive frame of a pendant on a black ribbon as a symbol of coquetry and a black mark of sadness. There are no real portraits of Anna, but I imagine a piercing look of blue eyes thrown in passing. The portrait of Peter in the painting seems to be scorched by the fire of passionate but unrequited love. The powers that can move the destinies of nations, but no one has power over even one heart.
