“All water in nature is a gift. It is, of course, a gift for life. The first question about life in
the universe is, ” Is there water?” If not, forget about life. But in all forms, it is a gift for
the eyes…raging seas, still ponds, towering clouds, stately icebergs and even raindrops
in a puddle. Waterfront property is at a premium , and waterfalls are a tourist attraction.
One of my favorite forms of water is rapids. This is where geology meets moving water.
They are a treat for the ears as well as the eyes.

The patterns are predictable and ever-changing in minor ways.
One of my most memorable experiences with rapids was one particular destination where
one can most readily see the spirit bear, or Kermode bear, which is a white form of the
black bear. We had great luck seeing a white bear looking for salmon in the rapids, but
we also saw a black bear navigating his way through them, also searching for migrating
salmon.”
