This dynamic sculpture of a leaping female torso is carved from red travertine that was quarried near Pisa, Italy. Travertine is a sedimentary stone and minerals carried in water have eaten holes in the rock while it was underground, giving the stone the appearance of Havarti cheese. If one looks closely, some of these cavities hold a tiny world of wonders, like the ones in the small of her back. Look for tiny, light reflecting crystals hidden there!
