I have carved several Humpbacks over the
years and each time I try to bring something
new to the concept. With these, I wanted to
make these whales to appear to float in an
invisible ocean. By removing as much of the
stone underneath as possible, l was able to
create the sense of weightlessness and
freedom that is natural to their oceanic world.
