"This painting was done from reference I gathered while on a painting

trip in England. This is in Hastings, East Sussex, which was once a thriving

fishing town. When I lived near here back in the 1980’s it was constantly

busy with boats coming and going, fishers working on nets and gulls screeching

overhead. I was saddened when I returned in 2011 to see very few boats

remained and most were abandoned among heaps of old nets." - Deborah Tilby
