The goshawk is an aristocrat among raptors. In flight, the goshawk makes a zig-zag pattern, which I have imitated in this composition with the shape of the tree trunk and branches. Original printmaking allows an artist to capture a variety of textures – the gnarled bark of the tree, the goshawk’s plumage, the pine needles – with equal gusto.
