Mark Hobson (Prints)

The broad leaf maples of the Pacific Northwest are the largest maples found in the world.  In the moist rainforests where they love to grow they acquire a rich layer of mosses, liverworts, ferns and lichens on their trunks and branches.  In October their huge leaves become brilliant yellow and can brighten even the gloomiest of grey autumn days.  It was the light patterns through the layers of yellow leaves that inspired me to paint this scene.
