On our first day in Saigon, Vietnam, I was definitely affected by the humidity taking its toll on my body as well as feeling the jet lag. I just didn’t have the energy to carry my Canon 5D Mark II on the tripod around the city during our first exploratory walk. Instead I only carried the small Panasonic DMC- TZI in my pocket. I soon regretted my decision as we walked from the market to the main bustling thoroughfare seeing so many colourful and unusual sights that I knew I would want in great detail. One was this graphic display of the linear effects of bootlegged power lines. We were told that lots of people besides the workers of the power company, take it upon themselves to “hitch a free ride” from the power grid. But I viewed the whole thing as a piece of art, especially with the golden-orange colour of the bottom half and would have loved to have more digital information.
