This piece is carved from marble that came from the Petacchi quarry in the mountains above the famous town of Carrara, Italy. Carrara marble is recognized as the premium material for fine art sculpture the world over. I’ve polished this sculpture to a high sheen, to accentuate the fine grey/green striations in the white background.
