At the Beach is another of Binkley's Rubenesque sculptures wherein he sculpted generously proportioned nudes in amusing situations. This gal is lounging at the beach, smiling up at the sun and enjoying its warmth. It is carved from a variety of limestone that was quarried at Chamesson, France. This buttery coloured stone shows evidence of fossils and there is a sand-filled geode on her left hip. Binkley has made the surfaces of this sculpture smooth to the touch, like skin and the matte finish allows for the stone to successfully hold shadow to maximize the eye's ability to fully enjoy the form.
