This is a collaboration piece between Jerett Humpherville and his wife Courtney Humpherville. Courtney Humpherville is a Gitxsan artist from British Columbia. At a young age, she would spend much time with her grandparents in her ancestral lands of the Northwest Coast rainforest—home to the elusive Kermode bear and rich in cultural and ecological diversity. Her family carries the Wolf crest, and her lineage heralds from the legendary historical figure Simon Gunanoot. Raised in a creative household, Courtney learned traditional skills from her mother and grandmother. Her mother taught moccasin-making for her local school . Her grandmother enjoyed hat decorating and her grandfather taught her food gathering from the land. These experiences, along with her deep connection to nature, continue to shape her as aspiring Northwest Coast native artist. Today, she collaborates with her husband, accomplished artist Jerett Humpherville, creating pieces that honor both their cultures and shared artistic heritage.
