The Story of the Paddle:

“Woven in Wood” brings the intricate geometry of the Chilkat weaving tradition to the water. This paddle serves as a contemporary beacon of hospitality and connection.

The central human form is carved with an open hand, a universal gesture of greeting. This represents the Gitxsan expression Luu amhl good’y—"My heart is happy to see you." By translating this woven motif into wood, the paddle acts as a permanent invitation, a welcoming hallmark to all who cross its path.
