"In creating this collection of new works, I drew inspiration from real or imagined wholesome imagery right before my eyes. I never tire of revisiting familiar loved objects , seascape, landscape and floral themes using intuitive mark-making. More unique playful textures, which I felt we need at this time, emerged in these works.
The still life paintings depict many of my favourite things: some I remember from my childhood, as well as vivid flowers in vases, fruit and vegetables referencing my farming days, and other beloved objects which are in my home at present. The more abstract floral works exude an uplifting energy with the intention of bringing joy, colour and sense of the goodness in life to their new homes.
Oil or Acrylic paint on canvas provide inexhaustible opportunities for me to express these feelings, often using bold compositions and saturated colour. I love to “push paint” around, exploring what will materialize on the canvas in a magical combination of intention and serendipity.
