About Brent Lynch

The first 20 years of Brent‘s career was devoted to the applied arts as an illustrator and designer. His body of work ranged from large scale murals, books, magazines, event posters and record cover artwork. Lynch operated at the top of the field commissioned by leading corporations, agencies, publishers, professional art and sports organization. Of all these works it was his artistic event posters that became best known and created a strong popular following. Over the years Brent produced an impressive composite of artistic posters featuring national and international events including sports, tourism, opera, dance and theater. These original paintings now hang in corners of the world near and far. He has been honored with many coveted national and international communication arts awards for his illustration and design.

Over the past fifteen years, Brent has turned his attention to his own artwork. He brings the power that made him one of Canada’s best illustrators into the pursuit of his personal vision. The energy, intensity and poetry of both his figurative and landscapes are a result of the artist’s passion for direct study from life. It was a trademark discipline as an illustrator and now as it is in his personal artwork.

Whether life drawing in the studio or painting in the field, it is the immediate raw connection with his subject that is the cornerstone of his work.

Currently you’ll find him preparing for an exhibition or traveling to the top of a mountain, down the valley, across a desert or kayaking the ocean with paints in tow. He hangs in select galleries along the west coast ( see representation) and takes on private commissions painting large installations and canvases for private homes and public buildings alike. Lynch spends the coldest month of winter painting in Todos Santos, BCS Mexico – a small town on the Baja Pacific side. He exhibits his work at the renowned ‘Ida Victoria Gallery’ in San Jose Del Cabo. When he’s not traveling about you’ll find him in his studio painting on the ocean shore of the northwest…his home.

“In the last decade I’ve purposely slowed down to paint some decent pictures and not to miss the moment. After a whirl wind trip through the noise of the arts and the world at large, surviving it, its’ a gift to have the opportunity”.
