About Terry Murray

 
After retiring from a 40-year career as a Script Supervisor (Continuity) in television and film production in Vancouver, Terry came home to Vancouver Island to rekindle her artistic interests.
 
Terry grew up with the ocean and forest at her doorstep near Qualicum Beach.  From an early age, she could see the potential for creating art by repurposing natural materials.  She taught herself how to make coiled baskets from reeds, grasses and phormium tenax (New Zealand flax).
 
Terry also works with paper creating coiled bowls from marine charts, sheet music, road maps and other interesting printed papers that might be destined for recycling.  
 
She was featured in Uppercase magazine in January 2021 and has won awards for her work at the Sooke Fine Art Show (Award of Excellence, 2020), the Sidney Fine Art Show (Juror's Choice 2019) and Ladysmith Fine Crafts Show (Best in Basketry 2022).
 
Terry lives in Sidney, BC.
